About James MacFarlane

From a very early age James had a love for Art Deco buildings, with a particular fondness for the Art Deco entrance gates of Dudley Zoo. From there, James’ fascination with the 1920’s evolved with his attention turning to the graphic design of the era. Taking influence form artists such as Cassandre, Tom Purvis, Ludwig Hohlwein and Walter Spradbury. James still works traditionally with gouache, with the aim of getting his artwork to feel as close as possible to the era which inspires him.
